An existing industrial unit, formerly housing the workshops and offices of the City Council's Trading Standards and Environmental Health Departments, was selected by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Services as Hub to service their fleet and equipment for their North region, which services 1.2m people from over 160 fire stations. 

 

The appointment included all civil and structural engineering services for the works, which comprised the following primary elements. 

  • Installation of vehicle inspection pits. 

  • Replacement of the ground floor slab in the workshop.

  • Erection of full height division walls separating workshop areas from offices. 

  • Repositioning and upgrading an existing mezzanine structure

  • Installation of new roller shutter doors and trimming steelwork. 

  • Over cladding of existing roof. 

  • Vehicle lift foundations. 

  • Internal fir out and forming new openings through existing walls. 

  • New vehicle wash bay. 

  • Extension of existing hardstanding. 

  • Associated earthworks and drainage, including wash bay interceptor and attenuation to surface water.
