Craig Stevenson     CEng, MIStructE & SER Certifier

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Background & Experience

Craig is Managing Director of Bayne Stevenson Associates Ltd joining the company in 1999, becoming a Director in 2006 and then following a management buy-out becoming the Managing Director in 2020.  He is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years' experience in the construction industry, with significant involvement in the Residential and Education sectors. When not at work he is trying to improve his handicap chasing the wee white ball around Dunnikier Park Golf Club

Key Skills & Abilities

Craig's particular strengths are his ability to design in all the main structural materials (masonry, concrete, steel and timber) as well as providing cost effective civil engineering design solutions.  He is fully conversant with the current building standards and construction methods and is capable of designing economical, buildable solutions.  Craig has been involved in a wide range of projects involving sustainable and modern methods of construction for residential dwellings.  Craig is a commercially aware engineer and understands the commercial drivers that his Clients face in the delivery of a Project.  He actively value engineers at all stages in the Project to assist in deliverability.

David Purves      BSc(Hons), CEng, MICE & SER Certifier

DIRECTOR

Background & Experience

Dave is a Director of Bayne Stevenson Associates Ltd joining the Company in 2011 as an Engineer and working his way to becoming a Director in 2022.  Dave has worked in consulting civil and structural engineering practices since graduating in 2006. Dave's experience has been in the design of building structures in the education, retail, commercial, leisure, residential and industrial sectors. 


Key Skills & Abilities

Dave has experience in the design of structures in steel, in-situ concrete, precast concrete, masonry and timber.  Dave has participated in a number of project related building workshops which have enhanced his ability to participate in effective team working.  He has worked on Projects from simple housing design to complex new builds with values of up to £40million. 

Gregor King      BEng(Hons),CEng, MIStructE, EUR ING & SER Certifier

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Background & Experience

Gregor is an Associate Director of Bayne Stevenson Associates Ltd, joining the Company in 2017 as an Associate and becoming an Associate Director in 2021.  Gregor has worked in consulting civil and structural engineering practices since graduating in 1996. Gregor's experience has been in the design of building structures in the industrial, education, commercial, leisure, residential and sectors.

 

Key Skills & Abilities

Gregor has experience in the design of structures in steel, in-situ concrete, precast concrete, masonry and timber.  Gregor has provided expert witness services and is well respected for his technical excellence.  He has worked on Projects from simple housing design to complex new builds with values of up to £80million.

Nicola Brookfield      BSc, MSc, C.Geol, SiLC

GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATE

Background & Experience

Nicola is a Geo-environmental Associate at Bayne Stevenson Associates Ltd and joined the company in 2014.  Prior to her current role, Nicola worked for large multi-disciplinary consultancies and ground investigation contractors in England and Scotland since graduating in 1996. 

 

Key Skills & Abilities

Nicola is a Chartered Geologist and Specialist in Land Condition with 20+ years' experience since graduating from Liverpool (Bachelor of Science, Geology) and Newcastle Universities (Master of Science, Engineering Geology).  During her career Nicola has developed a wide range of technical experience in her field which include contaminated land risk assessment, hydrogeology, foundation design, ground gas risk assessment and mineral stability and applies this expertise in the context of EIA, planning, statutory regimes and due diligence.  Nicola's strengths lie in detailed contaminated land assessment and development of remediation strategies for problematic brownfield sites to allow developments to proceed safely and achieve regulatory approvals.
