As part of a consolidation / rationalisation strategy exercise carried our by Clackmannanshire Council, in order to bring various council departments together into one campus, we were involved with the Architects and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering consultants to evaluate proposals, carry out feasibility studies and completion of detailed design associated with the redevelopment works of Kilncraigs Mill.

 

The project consisted of a refurbishment and extension of an existing listed building to form a new office facility.  In one area of façade retention works to a grade A listed building was also incorporated within the development.

 

Construction types consisted of steel frame and composite concrete flooring with areas of traditional masonry build where appropriate.

Careful consideration with respect to the varying construction materials was required to ensure robust detailing at junctions and thus minimise future maintenance.

In order to ensure the existing structure was as anticipated in all areas additional sites visits, over and above the normal quality control visits, were carried out to ensure a robust construction was achieved.
